For almost 50 years, New Life for Youth has been a place of hope for individuals struggling to overcome life-controlling problems such as drug and alcohol addiction.  New Life For Youth stands as a beacon of hope for the tens of thousands of young men and women who have found hope and healing through their program.

After Victor Torres was saved from a life of drug addiction and gangs, he was given an opportunity to go to Bible College in California.  There, he met his beautiful wife Carmen, and together they began to travel the world, sharing the powerful message of hope and transformation through Jesus Christ.
In 1971, Victor and Carmen were on a national speaking tour, with Richmond, VA as their first stop.  At that time, they didn’t realize that Richmond wold become their permanent home and outreach ministry base.  Realizing it was God’s plan to remain in Richmond, they began reaching out on the local streets, ministering in front of night clubs and in the prisons.  The need was apparent and they started bringing hurting youth into their home, allowing them to sleep anywhere they could fit, often sleeping on the floor.  Victor and Carmen were bringing hope and change to broken lives.
Together, they founded New Life for Youth and soon opened the Men’s Ranch in Beaverdam, VA, a beautiful 118-acre farm when the need for help outgrew the humble beginnings of their first home.  Later, the men’s program was joined by The Mercy House, a home for women and Mercy Moms House for single mothers and children.
